I understand the cafe dilemma! I recently started bringing headphones to cafes because I tend to stay in the neighbourhood. No music just noise cancelling which keeps people from starting a conversation. If I see someone I want to talk with I take them off. Or if you get caught out by said person again. Have your pomodoro clock on and say « oops, have to get back to writing. »
